We are happy to add Richard Shelton's website to our Links page. Richard has recently
released a CD entitled Top Cat and it's a terrific CD. PHONE CALL FROM STUART GILLIES For some time I have been trying to track the
whereabouts of singer Stuart Gillies and with the help of Barry Watson (a friend of Jackie's) I succeeded.
You may remember Stuart had several hits in the 70's with "Amanda" and "For My Love" and has a very rich and powerful voice. Anyway, last week Stuart called me to say he had received my letter and he is doing fine and singing on cruise liners, he re-located to Jersey some years ago and that's when things went quiet regarding news.
Stuart does not have a website so I offered to add a little piece here and hopefully soon we will have a picture to add.

reissue of the Pye Anthology is due for release March 27th. The tracks are the same as the previous release but the sleeve notes have been updated, the website has been added to the notes and there is also a new catalogue number.

the display of CD sleeves..
Jackie's
Recording Session Hello Folks,
Just a few weeks ago I spent a few days with Jackie in Croydon as she was completing
work on her new cd. This was my first experience of seeing someone at work in a studio and it was a great
time for me (even although Jackie declined my offer of doing backing vocals!)!!!
A lot of hard work goes into making a record and Jackie was in great voice, her song selection was excellent and this is going to be a superb
CD. During the time I was with Jackie I took several pictures of her.
Below, you can see one of her at work in the studio - the others we will add at a later date.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Colin, Jackie's new husband and between the two of them they were excellent hosts.
Please check back soon for more news!
Jackie and Colin will become husband and wife on November 24.
Here's wishing them every happiness in their life together. A
newspaper article about the two of them can be found here
published in The Sentinel. New CD New cd
released on January 16. It is a straight re-release of the Pye Anthology - Where Are You
Now 2 cd set with a new catalogue number. (Additional news Sanctuary
has contacted us and the release is now early March due to updates on the sleeve notes
- addition of the website etc.) The 'other'
Jackie Trent If anyone checks EBay for any Jackie Trent records and notices one called
"Little Andy", please be advised this IS NOT the British Jackie Trent (of Jackie Trent & Tony Hatch) but an American male country singer.
This record puzzled both Jackie and myself for some time until I did some checking on the
title.
HATCHBOX - TONY HATCH
6CD SET
On March 21 a new 6 cd set was released featuring the following albums with
the sleeves reproduced in miniature.
CD1 The Tony Hatch Sound
CD2 A Latin Happening
CD3 Beautiful In The Rain
CD4 The Two Of Us (with Jackie Trent)
CD5 Sounds Of The Seventies
CD6 Hit The Road To Themeland
This is a truly wonderful release as it includes the album "The Two Of Us"
(for track list please the the album discography).
There are some stunning tracks on the Instrumental albums including Jackie's
number one "Where Are You Now", also Jackie's "When Summertime Is Over" plus
"Beautiful In The Rain", "You'd Better Come Home" and "Call Me" all
recorded by Petula Clark.
It's too bad Tony's "Hits Symphonic" album was not included as it is a
superb album, instead a later album "Hit The Road To Themeland" is included in the
set.
An excellent addition to any collector of quality music!
Jackie Trent
Scholarship
Jackie set up the "Jackie Trent Scholarship" last year, to be awarded annually to a member of Stoke-on-Trent AOS Youth Section, who is about to go to drama/performing arts school in the following year. It is a bursary of £2000 which is to help towards tuition fees, etc., needed to pursue a career in music/musical theatre. It is Jackie's way of putting back something into the community where she grew up.
For this year it is awarded to 19 year old Robert Smith, who played "Simeon" in Rock Nativity. He has previously played "Riff" in West Side Story, "John" in the Hired Man, "Will Parker" in Oklahoma! and many other smaller parts. He has a superb voice, is an excellent actor and a tremendous dancer.

Jackie's Australian Tour
April/May 2004
A Flyer for the
Australian concert tour. Thanks to Charles Bures for sending it
Paul Hunt sent us this review
Over the years, Jackie Trent has not received the critical acclaim befitting her wide-ranging vocal talents.
To some extent, this was due to her close professional association with her now ex-husband, Tony Hatch. Together they wrote some monumental hits for various artists, notably, Petula Clark.
But tonight she demonstrated why she should take pride of place in her own right alongside other chart-topping female vocalists from Great Britain such as Cilla Black and Dusty Springfield.
Apart from reeling off the string of hits she wrote for Petula Clark, she invited Barry Crocker to the stage for an impromptu duet of another of her Australian hits, the theme song from the TV show, Neighbours.
She performed an elegant and poignant version of Sondheim’s Send In The Clowns, a song which these days has assumed anthem status more than just a contemporary pop song.
Despite her self-confessed age of sixty-something, her voice is as strong as ever.
After letting us know she took out Australian citizenship in 1995, she concluded the performance with her spine- tingling musical adaptation of Dorothea Mc Kellar’s I Love A Sunburnt Country… a fitting tribute from one of our favourite adopted daughters.
Vicki
sent us a message to say how much she enjoyed the concert. Jackie sang
the following songs - among others: Downtown
Don't sleep in the subway
Send in the clowns
Colour my world
Two of us
From a distance
Thank you for loving me
My Country the song based on 'I love a sunburnt country'
Neighbours
and a Reba Mcintyre song Live

April 10th - Canterbury Hurdstone Park RSL
